ABOUT THE HOME
The clients wanted a minimalist design that sought elegance through simplicity and smart use of fine materials. Rather than match the size of nearby homes, they built considerably smaller and focused on quality and efficiency, with construction cost well below average custom homes. With four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a study, and a two-car garage, the 2,998 sf. house is one of the only homes in the area with a large, usable rear yard.
The design features two wings separated by a gated zaguán, which extends into a continuous raised terrace. The West side is a two-story wing housing the entry, living/dining/kitchen and guest suite on the first floor, with two bedrooms, a shared bath and a study on the second floor. The East wing houses the garage and mud room on the ground floor, with the master bath and closet above.
This home was artfully designed by Murphy Mears Architects.
